Strange Fruit (2018)

From January to April 30, 2018, 68 Black lives have been taken by the police.

This is a project I made my final year as an undergrad last May.

When I finished this video, Jordan Edwards had just been shot and killed by the police. He was 15 years old, right around the same age as my little brothers.

During the making of this: I had a pile of images of the victims of police brutality and the bodies of Black and Brown people that the system let down and it dawned on me when I was looking down at the hundreds of people that I had printed that it wasn't an eighth of the people who have suffered.

This video is for Jordan Edwards, for Micheal Brown, for Trayvon Martin, for  Tamir Rice, For John Crawford, for Sandra Bland, for Eric Garner, for Aiyana Stanley-Jones, for Yvette Smith, for Oscar Grant, For Carry Ball Jr., for Tanisha Anderson, for the 987 people killed in 2017 by the police and for the thousands before that.
